RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHER'S BEHAVIOUR ABOUT PREVENTION WITH PNEUMONIA INCIDENCE IN TODDLERS AGED AT SAWIJI VILLAGE JOGOROTO JOMBANG

Introduction: Pneumonia is the cause of the second death after diarrhea (15,5% among all toddlers) and always the highest ten disease every year at health facility. Mother’s behavior predicted as one of the factors to influence peumonia incidence. The aim of this research is to know relationship of mother’s behaviour about prevention with pneumonia incidence in toddlers. Method: The population total was 212 mothers having toddlers, using cluster proportional simple random sampling method as 32 mothers. The instrument used questionnaire.The independent variable is mother’s behavior about prevention and dependent is pneumonia incidence to toddlers. This research used analytic correlational with cross sectional approach ofChi-Square test. Result: The result showed that of 32 respondents,19 respondents have positive behavior for almost 84,2%(16 respondents) do not get pneumonia, and of 13 respondents have negative behavior for almost 76,9%(10 respondents) get pneumonia, It can be concluded that there is a relationshipbetween mother’s behaviour about prevention with pneumonia incidence in toddlers with the p value= 0,001 < α (0,05). Discussion: Mothers is important role in maintenance of infant health, particularly the prevention of pneumonia. Good toddler care will improve immunity against disease transmission. It’s suggested that mothers have to care more when caring for their children.
