<text>

ABSTRACT

Hypertension or commonly referred to high blood pressure is one of the common public health problems in developing and developed countries as in Indonesia. The incidence of hypertension is quite high and even tends to increase along with unhealthy living behavior. One of the less healthy behaviors is by excess consuming of sodium. This study aims to know how the behavior of sodium intake (Natrium) in the family of elderly with hypertension in the Bareng village.The design study was qualitative with ethnographic approach, with family informants who had not affected by hypertension, elderly with hypertension, health workers, and posyandu cadres. Gathering the data used purposive sampling. The data was taken by with observation, interview and documentation. Analyze the Data used reduction, data display, conclusion drawing / verification. Data validity used triangulation and member check. From the results of study to the behavioral of sodium (Natrium) family of n elderly with hypertension was found the family behavior of food processing and consuming food used sodium (Natrium) was still high by adding flavoring flavor every cooking, family behavior that use sodium (Natrium) they never Used a dosage when adding flavor seasoning was just estimated it, the way of family and hypertensive sufferers avoid sodium (Natrium) when cooking without the use of additional flavorings. It could be concluded that the knowledge of the community was actually quite good but had not balanced with the behavior of people who still process the daily food and consume foods containing sodium (Natrium), it is also proved by family members and hypertensive patients rarely check the label of nutritional value info Or content in the packaging. Therefore, it is expected family and hypertension patient can control sodium intake (Natrium) in everyday life so that can also be controlled high blood pressure in elderly.
</text>

At this stage patients and families seek health care at the time of severe hypoglycemia, which can cause damage to the brain especially the brain if do not gets a quick and proper treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine how the family perception of emergency hypoglycemia in family members who suffer from diabetes mellitus type 2. The design of study was qualitative with a descriptive approach to five participants of diabetes mellitus with hypoglycemia, one Nurse of health center, and one Nurse of Emergency Room. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews, observations and field notes. Creswell's content analysis method was used to develop themes. The Validity of data used triangulation and member check.The results showed that hypoglycemia was a state of under normal sugar level characterized by decreased consciousness, cold sweats, seizures, cognitive changes, physical weakness and dizziness due to lack of food intake, high doses of drugs, stress, and insulin which then participants gave sweet foods and drinks because they considered that hypoglycemia was an emergency situation that requires prompt and appropriate help.New participants understood that hypoglycemia after getting information from the officer. So, the new participants know that hypoglycemia did not know what to give and what actions to do when hypoglycemia occurred. It was hoped that further research would examine more deeply about family experiences that family members of hypoglycemia.
</text>
